ISLAM IN ITS ESSENCE

Islam is an Arabic word. Its meaning is the act of resignation to God. The root of the word is SLM, pronounced Silm, which means peace, which comes aslama which means submitted, surrendered. Al-Islam or Islam is the religion that brings peace to mankind when man abandons God and submit to His will. According to the Holy Book revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him), this is the only true religion professed by all the Prophets from Adam to Muhammad, the last prophet. A “Muslim”is someone who is resigned to surrender to God and this attitude professes the faith of Islam. Consequently a Muslim believes in all prophets and makes no distinction between the two. He also believes that God has sent His prophets to all corners of the earth to preach the same religion, that His message stopped coming after the recent revelations received by the last Prophet, Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be with him ) And that the message received by the last prophet, is the most comprehensive and the final form of the message of God to man.
