MONTH OF RAMADAN QURAN

The first part of this paper is based on an extract from Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali al-Ma’arif Lata’if quoted by Fahd bin Suleyman in Kayf Nastafeed min Ramadan (pp. 48-50). The advice provided by this article is much more important in the last ten nights of Ramadan. Imam Bukhari reported from ‘A’isha that the Messenger of Allah (sas) tightened its belt, spent the night doing Salat and wake his family for the last ten nights of Ramadan. Ramadan is almost over, so grab the golden opportunity!

Of course, Ramadan has a special relationship with the Qur’an:

“The month of Ramadan is when the Quran was sent, a guide for mankind, clear proofs for the guidance, the Criterion, as well as for any of you who witness this month, observe the fast.” (Surah al-Baqarah 2:185)

The word “so” (fa) in this ayah leads to the following paraphrase of one aspect of its meaning: “Fast this month because it is in the Quran came down.”

Ibn ‘Abbas narrates that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was the most generous person, and that even in Ramadan was much more generous than usual and that Jibreel came to him every night and helped him learn the Koran. ” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

This hadith contains the following recommendations:

* Studying the Qur’an in Ramadan

* Join for this purpose;

* Check the memory or knowledge of the Koran itself with someone who has been well preserved;

* Increase the recitation of the Qur’an in Ramadan

* That the night time is the best time to recite, when other preoccupations decrease and it is easier to concentrate, as in Surah al-Muzzammil 73:6.

Fatimah (raa) narrated from his father (PBUH), who told her that Jibril would rehearse the Qur’an with him (in Ramadan) once every year, and did so twice in the year of his death. (Bukhari 6 / 485)

After mentioning the above aspects of the Sunnah, Ibn Rajab talks about the situation of the Salaf (early Muslims) during Ramadan:

“… Some of the Salaf would recite the entire Quran during Ramadan salat night every 3 days, others every 7 days for example Qataadah, others every 10 such as Abu Rajaa al-Atardi. The Salafi recited the Koran during Ramadan Salat and beyond. Al-Aswad would recite the whole Quran every 2 nights in Ramadan the Quran regularly Qataadah end in 7 days, but did it in 3 during Ramadan. when Ramadan began Imam Malik Hadith tell stopped and sat with knowledgeable people to recite the Koran, while Sufyan al-Thawri left other practices and recited the Koran. “A’isha recite Quran from the first day of Ramadan, starting just after dawn until the sun had risen, after asleep.

Sahaba really spent much time reciting the Qur’an, especially in Ramadan.

Compare this with our present state, when we talk so much about establishing Islam, in enhancing learning of the Koran, etc … and have so little contact with him, maybe we fill our life from childhood to reach the end of his recitation, or perhaps never be able to complete it! With this we lose balance in our understanding of Islam, because there are nannies that we rarely or never hear or think about them, and we repeat only certain ayas over and over again, we’ve lost the context of the verses, the overall flow, argument and balance of the Koran, in which everything is miraculous and beautiful. Because of this ignorance, we lose the Straight Path, we divided into sects, losing the blessings of Allah.

In Surah al-Mu’minoon (23:53), no mention of the people before us (in whose footsteps would follow), that fragmented their deen into sects (zuburan), each party rejoicing in what he had. If we understand this, on the basis of zuburan word literally means “books” is that each sect left the Book of Allah (swt), and focused only on the books of his own sect, so that fragment their deen in these books.

The biggest mistakes, ridiculous, shallow ideas and superstitions are propagated amongst Muslims when they are out of the Koran, and any knowledge no matter how small the Qur’an would be enough to correct them.

Thus, the servants of Allah, leave aside the secondary books and concentrate on studying the blessed Book of Allah in this blessed month, and that is the source of all knowledge to be found in other books and more, and we keeps losing time, especially in futile discussions and arguments that lead nowhere, and are a sure sign of losing the way, as the Prophet (PBUH) said, “Whenever a person loses his way after being in the right direction, always appeared the discussion between them (Jadlo). “(Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah – Sahih al-Jami ‘al-Saghir, no. 5633)

Finally, remember that the Messenger (PBUH) will complain to Allah on the Day of Judgement that his people neglected the Qur’an (Sura al-Furqan 25:30).

Abandoning the Qur’an is of different levels, as Ibn al-Qayyim writes:

* Do not recite or listen;

* No study

* Do not convey your message;

* Do not believe in him.
