Fasting, a shield against Shaitan

Posted: Desember 25, 2010 in Uncategorized

Abu ‘Ubaidah (radialláhu’ anhu) narrates that: “I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saying:” Fasting is a shield that will protect you until you throw it. “

Commentary

“Shield” here refers to a deck that man can use to protect itself against attacks from his infamous enemy Shaytan. In another hadith we are told that “fast saves us from the punishment of Allah Ta Allah in the Hereafter.” A hadith says that fasting “Jahannam save us.” Someone asked Rasulullah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) about which things break the fast, said: “Lying and gossip about those who are absent.”

When you read this hadith along with many others, it is understood that tells us to abandon these actions, because we are losing our fast. We are very fond pass the time of fasting because of unnecessary conversation. Some ‘ulama are of the opinion that, lying, slander, and walk with gossip, break the fast just as eating or drinking, although most scholars believe that it does not break, but if deprived of their blessings.

The masháij have listed six things that must be very careful when we are fasting.

First, we must remove our gaze from where it is not allowed to watch. Even said that we should even look to our own desires wife. So, more reason to be careful we should look at other women who are not our wives. We must also avoid looking at those places where they do wrong. The Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “The evil eye is one of the arrows of Shaytan, anyone who has fear of Allah to prevent himself from looking bad. Allah Ta’ala grant him a magnet , whose sweetness and ecstasy felt in the heart. ” The scholars of Tasauwuf interpret this as scenes should be avoided to look at, and places and things to distract our mind from the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala.

Second, we cherish our language to use to lie, to speak unnecessarily, go to gossip, discuss and cursing. In Bukhari we read that fasting is a deterrent for those who fast, for this reason one who is fasting should avoid frivolous conversation, jokes and discussions, if someone comes into a discussion, read: “I am fasting.” In other words, one should not start a discussion and if the launch is another who should avoid it. When the person who starts an argument is someone sensible will be told: “I am fasting.” On the other hand, one must be especially careful about gossip and tell lies because, according to the opinion of some scholars, these break the fast, as was mentioned earlier in this text. During the time of our Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), two women were fasting and began to feel so hungry that they could not sustain his fast and nearly died. The Sahabah (radialláhu ‘anhum) warns the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu’ alayhi wa sallam) who sent a pitcher and ordered them to vomit into it. When vomited, they found were pieces of flesh and blood in the container. The Sahabah (radialláhu ‘anhum) were surprised by it and the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:” They fasted and avoided eating Allah halal food and instead ate haram due to have been muttering about other people. “

Another point that emerges from this is that, due to the gossip, fasting becomes much more difficult to bear. For this reason the two women were about to die. A similar case is that of other sinful acts. Experience shows that the pious people who have fear of Allah Ta’ala, do not feel any adverse effects from fasting, while the sinful people feel great difficulty in it. If you want to provide fast, then you should refrain from sin and, especially talking about people walking behind them.

Tá Allah Allah says in the Qur’an that the gossip is like eating the flesh of our brother. We found the same in a hadith. Once Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saw a group of people and said: “MoNDAo teeth”, to which they responded: “We have not eaten anything today,” Rasulullah (sallallahu’ alayhi wa sallam) said: The meat of a certain person is stuck in your teeth. ” What I meant is that they were talking about someone who was not present. May Allah Ta’ala protect us from it! because we are careless about it. We are all guilty of this, even among scholars and religious people get this wrong. What’s worse is that often we speak of our brothers not consider it as gossip, in fact, when someone feels he has been muttering about others, hides this sin called “a narrative of facts.”

One of the Sahabah asked Rasulullah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) What is whispering behind someone’s back?, Rasulullah (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:” To say something about your brother that he dislikes, when he is not present “then this fellow asked: And would gossip if what is said about him is something true?” The Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “In that case it is certainly gossip and if he is not guilty of what is said, then it is a slander. “

Once Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) went where there were two graves and said: “The punishment has fallen upon the inhabitants of these two graves. One of them is being punished for walking around with gossip behind people and the other be careful not wash properly after urinating. “

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “There are more than seventy types of evil in profit through interest (riba), the youngest of them equivalent to having committed incest with his mother, and get a profit dirham because of the interest, having committed adultery is worse than thirty-five times. ” The worst and most evil way to earn interest is to humiliate a Muslim. In the hadith have been warned against speaking ill of other people and dishonor. I wish I could cite many ahadith on this issue, since it is quite common that our conversations are filled with this type of behavior. However, I decided against it because, in reality, the theme here is another. Having reviewed these few ahadith, I again Tá du’aa to Allah Allah keep us away from these evils, and I ask my brothers and friends to pray for me because all interiors are full of faults.

“PRIDE YARROGANCIA,

IGNORANCE YNEGLIGENCIA,

DISLIKES YMALICIA,

BAD THOUGHTS

LIES AND BREAKING PROMISES,

And I hate ostentation

MURMURINGS YRENCOR.

WHAT HAS AND DISEASE

O Allah! NOT IN MY,

Heal me from all sickness

YALIVIA MY NEEDS,

OMPENZAS OF FASTING

I certainly have a heavy heart,

Surely you are WHO HEALS THE SICK. “

The third thing is that whoever fasts should be very careful to protect their ears from the reprehensible on matters that should not be talking. It is haram to say or hear anything that should not be that. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said whispering behind someone’s back is what makes both muttering as he hears your murmurings.

Fourth, the rest of the body must turn away from sin and evil. Not even be touched with the hands or feet can be routed to the wrong. It should be especially careful at the time of Iftar. We should not enter any food on which we fit a doubt whether that is haraam. When a person fasts and breaks his fast by eating haram, acts like a sick person who takes medicine to heal while taking the poison that destroys it.

Fifth, after fasting, it is advisable to fill the stomach completely even if you are eating halal the Iftar, as this is to miss the meaning of fasting. Lower fasting with our carnal desires, it also strengthens our angelic qualities and increases the illumination of the soul. For eleven months we have been eating and drinking, but harm may have to eat less during a single month.

We have the bad habit of filling food during iftar for all that we ate during the day, and so suhoor not eat, it actually increases our average consumption of food. Many things that in normal times do not eat, are consumed during Ramadan. In fact, it is during this month when more developed this bad habit.

Imam Ghazali (rahmatulláhi ‘alayhi) asked the following question: “If the purpose of fasting is to overcome the temptations of Iblis and our carnal passions, how this could be achieved if you eat too much during iftar and you lose the purpose of it? “.

In fact, what we do is change the schedule of food and not our share of it. Furthermore, we delight that do not usually see outside of Ramadan and many people are engaged in preparing special meals for this month. What actually happens is we end up eating even more than in normal times. The result is that instead of reducing our carnal appetites, what we do is increase them. The real benefit of fasting is to feel hunger in its true spirit. Fasting has many benefits and virtues to the world as observance of the shari’ah as its main objective. Our Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Shaytaan flows through the human body like blood, shut the road through fast.” All members are fed spiritually when the body is mortified by hunger and when the body is filled, members are spiritually mortified.

Another goal of fasting is to allow us to experience the plight of the poor and needy and create a feeling of compassion for them. This can only be achieved by feeling hungry and fill both the stomach with delicious food at suhoor, so do not feel hungry again until the time of Iftar. Only be compared with the poor, when you experience and feel the suffering of hunger.

On one occasion, a person was to Bishr Hafi (rahmatulláhi ‘alayhi) and found him shivering in spite of having warm clothes with him, asked if perhaps it was time to take off their clothes to which he replied: “There are many poor and needy and I am not able to sympathize with them, what else I can do is be like them. ” The ‘Ulama and scholars Tasauwuf (fuqaha) argue that it should be our attitude towards fasting. In the “Marágil Falah” (book of jurisprudence) is written: “Do not eat too suhoor as do the rich, for this is to miss the goal of fasting.” ‘Allamah Tahtawi (rahmatulláhi’ alayhi) wrote: “Holding the pangs of hunger, increases the reward, just as we develop a sense of compassion for the poor and hungry.”

The Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said that: “Allah Ta’ala does not dislike so much that something is filled to the brim as I dislike the stomach is full.” In another hadith Rasulullah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “A few mouthfuls are sufficient to man, to stand.” If anyone would like to eat, should not be exceeded. The optimum amount is one third of the stomach is full of food, a third water and the rest that remains empty. After all there must have been a reason for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) fasted for several days without eating anything between them. I have seen my teacher Jalil Ahmad (rahmatulláhi alayhi) eat some homemade bread in the Suhoor and Iftar during the month of Ramadan, when some of his close pressed him to eat more, he replied: “I have hunger, I am actually sitting just to be with my friends. “

I heard that the Sheikh Shah Abdurrahim Raipúri (rahmatulláhi ‘alayhi) during the fasting month of Ramadan used for days and take a glass of tea without milk Suhoor and Iftar. Once, his closest follower said anxiously: “You are going to be very weak if it does not eat something,” what the Sheikh said, “Alhamdulillah, I’m feeling some of the ecstasies of Jannah.”

May Allah Ta’ala grant us that we are able to follow those pious people! Amin.

“RICH PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW

THE STOMACH FULL OF A PERSON

WISDOM IS EMPTY. “

The sixth point is that after fasting, we feel fear and worry about whether our fasting was accepted or rejected by Allah Ta’ala. This should apply to all our ‘Ibadat, lest there be in them some fault or sin that Allah Ta’ala make reject our work. Rasulullah (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:” Many are the reciters of the Koran to be unhappy by the Koran itself, “and also said:” On the Day of Qiyamah, one of the first people Tá Allah Allah will be held accountable be a martyr who will ask about the blessings granted and it will recognize. then Allah Ta’ala will say, “Yde how grateful for them?”, he responds: “I fought your way to I was a martyr! “. Allah Ta’ala will reply: Not true! You fought so that people tell you you were a brave man and that was that! “. Then your face is ordered to put down and be thrown into Jahannam. A wise man will be called then, and also will remind you about the favors that Allah Ta’ala granted and will make about the same question, to which he responds: “Oh Allah! I struggled to attain knowledge, teach others and recited the Quran to you. “Allah Ta’ala will say:” “Not true! You did all that for people to say to you that you were a wise and well was spoken “. Then also ordered that his face is put on the floor and is thrown into Jahannam. Finally, a rich man will be called and Allah Ta’ala will remind you about the favors that were granted, it also recognizes and will also make the same question the other two, which will respond: “Oh Allah! Ti di charity for every worthy cause found. ” Allah Ta’ala response is: “Not true! You did all this to tell you that you were a generous man and it was spoken”. Then ordered that his face is put on the floor and Jahannam is cast. ” May Allah Ta’ala save us from it! Amin.

This is the result of misdirected intent. There are numerous examples in the Ahadith in this regard. The fasting person should be always aware of his intention, and that this is not adulterated. You should also make du’a to Allah Ta’ala always pleased to accept their work. It should be noted that the fear that our actions are not accepted is one thing, but quite another to have and maintain hope for the Infinite Grace and Mercy of Allah Ta’ala. This aspect of the Grace of Allah Ta’ala is unique. Sometimes He makes evil deeds worthy of reward in (when followed by good works). These six things are required for all straight people.

“Beautiful things

ELEGANCE AND DANCE

EXCELLENCE IS NO.

NO OTHER FORMS OF BEAUTY

CAN NOT EVEN BE NAMED. “

Especially pious people add a seventh point. During fasting, the heart must not turn to anything other than Allah Ta’ala, to the point of not caring or even if there is something to eat at Iftar. Some scholars believe that even thinking about food for Iftar is a failure, just think of something to strive for food, as this would mean a lack of confidence in the promise of support given by Allah Ta’ala. The commentary on the “Ihya ‘Ulúmud-Din”, the author mentions about some masháij, that if something came before Iftar Iftar time, then was thrown out of fear that the heart be established at the food for the rest day, reducing reliance on Allah Ta’ala. Of course this can only be practiced by people exceptionally pious, whose faith can not even imagine having. If we tried to follow this could destroy ourselves.

Regarding the verse that appears in the Koran: “Fasting is ordained for you.” The Koran commentators have said that fasting is required for each body part. So fast with the language means abstaining from lying, gossip, etc., Fast with the ears means not listening to evil eye fasting means not to look bad and sinful.

Similarly, the mean fasting itself away from all greed and lust. The fast of the heart means love away from worldly things. The fast of the ruh (soul) in this world means to abstain from the pleasures of the afterlife (ájirah). The fasting of the mind means to avoid thoughts of another, except Allah Ta’ala.
