The word”Islam”means peace, obedience or submission in Arabic and in the religious sense, means the subjection of humanity to the will of God. The man or woman who accepts the sovereignty of one God and surrender completely to His will is known as “muslim” or in Spanish “Muslim.” The name “Mohammedan” is often used in Spanish, is wrong and offensive to the very spirit of Islam.
Continuity of God’s message
Islam is not a new religion, in its essence is the same God revealed to all prophets. Our sacred scripture, the Qur’an tells us:
“We believe in God and everything is revealed, and all that was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, to the tribes. To Moses, Jesus and all prophets from God” ( The Qur’an, Chapter II””The Cow, verse 136).
