Itikaf (Retreat in the Mosque)

The meaning of itikaf is retiring in the mosque with the stated intention of doing so. According to the Hanafi school, there are three different types of itikaf.

1. Itikaf Wayib (required)

This is mandatory when a person gives this character herself. For example, if a person makes a vow to Allah that He Tá Allah grant him a wish and pledges to do itikaf for a certain number of days. From the moment that his wish is granted, this itikaf becomes an obligation for him. A person may make an unconditional vow to make itikaf wajib for a certain number of days, as soon as you take this vow that itikaf becomes wajib for him. (lebih…)
